Want to stay connected?
I'll share insights that can help transform your BDM journey
If you’re waiting to feel confident before you show up online, make calls, or pitch, get comfy, you’ll be waiting forever.
I see this all the time with BDMs. They think confidence is the starting point. That once they feel more polished, more ready, more sure of themselves, then they’ll start posting, backing themselves, and putting their name out there. But that’s not how it works.
Confidence is not the starting line. It’s the result.
What actually moves results is visibility.
Just consistent, intentional visibility.
Because visibility builds traction. Traction builds belief. Belief builds confidence.
Visibility is a growth strategy, not a vanity exercise
A lot of BDMs still treat visibility like it’s optional. Like it’s a nice extra for people who enjoy social media. It’s not.
Visibility is a business growth strategy.
The more visible you are, the more likely landlords, referral partners and potential clients are to find you. Your consistency signals reliability. Your voice builds familiarity. Your content creates trust before you’ve even had the first proper conversation.
That matters.
When someone has seen your face, read your thoughts, watched how you solve problems and noticed that you keep showing up, the conversation is warmer from the start. They don’t feel like they’re speaking to a stranger. They feel like they already know you.
That is the power of visibility. It builds trust at scale, before you even speak.
Perfection is costing you more than you think
The biggest roadblock I see is not lack of talent. It’s perfectionism dressed up as preparation.
“I don’t know what to post.”
“I want it to look better.”
“I’ll start when I’ve got more confidence.”
That last one is a big one, and honestly, it’s fair. Nobody wants to sound pushy, scripted, or desperate. But there is a huge difference between being visible and being salesy.
In fact, that is exactly the thinking behind my free guide, which is all about helping BDMs guide investors with clarity and confidence so they choose you without pressure or discounting. The guide also walks through how to lower resistance early in appraisals, present your service without overwhelming people with features, and handle objections before they even come up.
That is the sweet spot.
You do not need to sound “more professional”.
You need to sound clear, useful and human.
The BDMs who grow are not always the most polished. They’re the ones who show up consistently enough for trust to compound.
What visibility actually looks like for a BDM
Visibility isn’t complicated.
It can look like posting on LinkedIn twice a week about landlord questions you’re hearing again and again.
It can look like a quick video after a client win, sharing what worked.
It can look like a screenshot of a thank-you message.
It can look like commenting on investor or referral partner posts so your name stays top of mind.
It can look like stories that show your process, not just your results.
Here’s the real question I want every BDM to sit with:
“Can someone looking at your online presence tell what you’re great at?”
If the answer is no, you have a visibility problem.
From invisible to intentional
This is where the shift happens.
Start small, but stay consistent.
Choose one platform.
Create a rhythm you can actually maintain.
Monday: story.
Wednesday: win.
Friday: tip.
Use templates if they help, but always bring your own voice into it. People connect with people, not perfectly packaged corporate fluff.
And ask yourself this every single week:
Did I show up, or did I hide?
Confidence doesn’t come from theory. It comes from evidence. It comes from acting, seeing the response, building familiarity, creating traction and proving to yourself that you can do this.
The most successful BDMs I work with didn’t start because they felt ready. They started because they were done waiting.
Seen beats safe
If you want to grow, you have to be seen. Period.
Visibility creates familiarity.
Familiarity builds trust.
Trust opens doors.
You do not need to be the loudest person in the market. You just need to be present, clear and consistent.
Choose action over approval.
Choose clarity over confidence.
And choose to show up on purpose.
